Mumbai Cafe hopping

I love food, and when I travel, one of my ways of exploring the new city is through its food! I travelled to Mumbai in June 2023 and had one of the best trips honestly, it was the trip that marked the beginning of me starting my instagram page, as I had just completed my internship, and this was a time where I didn't have any deadlines to meet, or be in a rush.

I tried a lot of good food during my time in Mahabaleshwar, Lonavla, and then Mumbai. I wanted to make this post just about the cafes in Mumbai so hope you like it!

Our first stop was Subko Coffee Roasters inside a library (kitab khana). What a beautiful library, I had heard a lot about this place from my friends so I had to visit it. Tried the almond croissant and a basic mocha. While we were indulging in this buttery croissant, and drinking a really good coffee we started going through this super whack magazine which basically had pictures of croissant in backdrops you wouldn't expect it it to be in, put some of them below.

Following this we went to the banyan tree cafe, it was exquisite! A cafe which is built inside an old ice factory and around a banyan tree, it was so nice and cold, the vibes were amazing. We ordered the pesto pasta and lemonade to beat the heat we had been walking through. The pesto pasta was one of the best I have had, it was fresh, olivey(pretty sure that's not a word), and garlicky. Usually pesto tastes like grass or most places add too much cheese and the real pesto flavour vanishes, this was the first time where the balance was perfect, also the pasta was gluten free but you wouldn't realise because it was that well made! A must have.

We were quite full, so we decided to go shopping for a while, and to cool it all off we went to one of the most famous cafe's in Mumbai, Leopold Cafe. This place holds so much historical value, the fact that the cafe still has all the bullet holes, the shattered glass, really takes you back. We had just some mint masala lemonade here, because we were super tired after walking around and shopping(it's quite clear in the picture below)

And finally before we could go to marine drive, we decided to hit this place called Mag St. Cafe and OMG, we had the Danish, a mango danish, and an egg danish and it was so freakin good. The pastry was soft but crumbly & buttery and the filling was super fresh. Loved the vibes in this cafe and the sugar sachets, a must go for the bakery items!

On another day I embarked on a solo escapade or let's call it a solo date to Prithvi cafe! I am a theatre kid, and I wanted to to visit this place for all the memories and stories that it holds, you can see people from all ages, still passionate and creative, striving for something they love to do, it's beautiful! Had the keema pav here while I read a book, and spoke to a lady on my table who was there on a solo escapade as well, it was a short but fun conversation! Loved the keema pav, it was hot and yummy <3
